Multi-pattern large diaphragm condensor microphone most often used on vocals.  Can also be used as a door stop, a hammer, a trebuchet projectile…we kid, a vocalist would never sing into a hammer.

Highly detailed ambient recording microphone characterized by its smooth, transparent top end and sensitivity to moisture.  Not the mic you bring to the jungle, a pool, a wet basement, or really any non air conditioned space.  When they work though, they really work.  Appropriate for all sorts of orchestral instruments, gamelan, and other things that make sound with hard to pronounce names.

70’s German design at its best.  The retro future is cool, but this thing is astoundingly fragile for a dynamic mic.  The diaphram is mounted on a lucite cylinder because that makes total sense.  The cylinder will crack or break if you drop it affecting the mics frequency response.  The fact that it is supercardiod does not make up for it.
